Top 10 Cards Sold September 4-10, 2017
Jon Corpora

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and good night, wherever you happen to be. This is the latest countdown of the best-selling cards of the past week. Ixalan continues to loom large; its impact can be seen all over the top sellers. Let's jump right into the swimming pool that is this video.

#14: Aether Hub

#####CARDID=34304#####

There are two totally safe bets for Standard post-rotation, and energy-based decks are one of them. This means that the demand for Aether Hub is going to spike again for a little while, and if Temur Energy winds up being one of the best deck in Standard, Aether Hub is going to be an easy-to-move card with a fine margin.

#13: Attune with Aether

#####CARDID=34390#####

Another card that'll be easy to move, albeit with a less-impressive margin, is Attune with Aether. Looks like they finally figured out how to make Lay of the Land playable: staple a resource that only appears in one block onto it!

#12: Toolcraft Exemplar

#####CARDID=34383#####

Toolcraft Exemplar's presence is tricky. It could be here for a lot of reasons, but here's what we know: Thraben Inspector is rotating out. That's the bad news. Here's the good news: Vehicles are still legal. There are new vehicles in Ixalan. There's a whole mechanic in Ixalan based around creating Lotus Petals, which are artifacts that pump Toolcraft Exemplar. Scrapheap Scrounger and Bomat Courier are still legal. All told, there are still plenty of ways to pump a Toolcraft Exemplar post-rotation.

#11: Canyon Slough

#####CARDID=35937#####

#10: Swamp

#####CARDID=37949#####

#9: Mountain

#####CARDID=35944#####

There are two-full art basics in the top ten this week: the Hour of Devastation Swamp and the Amonkhet Mountain. Now, you may be wondering if the Unstable full-art lands are going to put a dent in the sales of the Amonkhet block full-art basics. My intuition is that they wont; those Unstable lands are going to be a hot commodity, and will be priced accordingly. The reason the Amonkhet block full-art lands will sell well forever and ever has a lot to do with the fact that they're easy on wallets.

#8: Scattered Groves

#####CARDID=35940#####

#7: Sheltered Thicket

#####CARDID=35941#####

#6: Fetid Pools

#####CARDID=35938#####

Standard's losing a lot of dual-lands, so Canyon Slough, Scattered Groves, Sheltered Thicket, and Fetid Pools all made the top ten sellers as players start gearing up for a Standard with a shortage of dual-lands. Plus all of these lands play well with the Magic 2010 duals getting reprinted in Ixalan, so there's that.

#5: Samut, the Tested

#####CARDID=36689#####

Last week, Magic's latest online client, MTG Arena, was previewed for the clamoring public. During the test run, Samut, the Tested hit play—turns out that giving an already-gigantic dinosaur double strike is pretty darn skippy. Samut is underpriced at the moment, so players are looking to recapture the magic of that stream on the cheap.

#4: Approach of the Second Sun

#####CARDID=36046#####

Approach of the Second Sun doesn't lose a whole lot in the Standard rotation, making it an attractive option going forward.

#3: Lightning Strike

#####CARDID=24525#####

Speaking of a good option for Standard, I mentioned earlier that there were two safe bets heading into Ixalan Standard. One is Energy-based decks. The other is mono-red. Ramunap red, to be exact, and the deck gets an upgrade in Ixalan, replacing Incendiary Flow with Lightning Strike. That's a game-changer.

#2: Thalia's Lancers

#####CARDID=33612#####

Thalia's Lancers continues to reap the benefits of the Planeswalker rule change. Now that Thalia's Lancers can tutor for Planeswalkers, the card's been selling like hotcakes.

#1: Opt

#####CARDID=7572#####

The number-one selling card, however, was Opt. Opt's getting reprinted in Ixalan, but players aren't content to wait, and they bought a ton of the Invasion version just to lock down their copies. Seth Manfield wrote a whole tome on Opt's potential impact. I highly recommend it.

That's all we've got for this week, but if you enjoyed this and think you'd enjoy more of this kind of thing, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel, because the top 10 sellers of the week goes up on a weekly basis. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you next time.
