Based upon one of the oldest deck concepts, the idea of denying your opponent the use of cards to play with has always been successful, and black has always been the color of choice. On the other hand, land destruction is a tried and tested approach to the game, and has had alot of success. Hypnotic Specter, combined with Megrim will deliver 4 points of damage every hit. Blackmail allows you to not only look at 3 of your opponent's cards but to discard on of those cards for a measly B. Blackmail is best played when your opponent only has 3 cards in hand, and combined with Megrin will deliver a double-edged sword. Artifacts may be prevelant in the Type II Circuit, but may play little part to this deck with the inclusion of Wrench Mind. Coercion, Mind Rot and Ravenous Rats complete the hand-denial engine. Teferi's Puzzle Box when combined with Underworld Dreams is perfect for delivering and incredible amount of damage to your opponent by doing 1 point of damage for each card they draw. While the Possessed Portal seems to contradict Underworld Dreams, it is in reality a coup de grace when you have more permanents in play and cards in hand than your opponent. Card Denial, Volcanic Hammer, Shock, Demolish, Shatter, and Stone Rain ensure this. Nekrataal, Dark Banishing and red burn can do more than enough to fill the graveyard of those pests. While the graveyard is filling up with with creatures, Mortivore will become a force to be reckoned with. Finally Diabolic Tutor will ensure that you get the cards you need to send everything of your opponent's Into The Void.
