Welcome to the OPEN BETA version of the TCGplayer Draft Simulator. For the next two weeks we are allowing the general public to test the Single Player version of the draft simulator. Based upon the feedback that you provide us [HERE] we will then be adjusting the draft simulator for a full fledged launch.
1) Your system is telling me I must be a Forum Member to use the Simulator.
That is correct. In order to track and store all of the information about your Drafts we need to have you logged in to tie all of this information to a user. Registration for our forum boards is 100% FREE.
2) Does this Simulator allow me to play Magic: the Gathering?
No. This simulator only allows you to practice your drafting and review your drafts and how your opponents drafted around you. To play Magic: the Gathering against other players we suggest you use Magic the Gathering Online, by Wizards of the Coast. You can download that application [HERE]
3) Can I use this simulator to draft against other players?
This current Beta version is Single Player Only. However, we will be launching an 8 player version shortly that will be available for Beta testing.
4) Is this simulator only for Magic: the Gathering?
This Beta version is only for drafting Magic: the Gathering. However, we will be launching Beta versions for use in drafting ALL of the games TCGplayer covers shortly.
5) Beta testing this program is great, but will you be charging for this simulator when it is finally launched?
No. This is not a replacement for playing Magic: the Gathering. This is just a simulator to practice and review your drafting and thus increase your skill. As such we will NEVER be charging a fee to use the TCGplayer Draft Simulator. To play Magic: the Gathering against other players we suggest you use Magic the Gathering Online, by Wizards of the Coast. You can download that application [HERE]
6) What is a "Bot".
The bots are automated drafters that use behind the scenes scripting to try and draft at a Friday Night Magic competence level. The bots make their card decisions based upon hundreds of factors, with a primary leaning towards the power ranking of the cards. This power ranking is adjusted daily based upon the analaysis of what Humans are drafting. So the bots will pick up on trends as new archetypes in drafting appear an old draft decks disappear from popularity.
7) How do you decide what is in a pack?
Our system does NOT use print runs. It is a 100% random system based around the rarity odds that Wizard's of the Coast releases. This sytem is a training tool only and as such you should download MTGO if you feel that print runs are a huge part of your drafting preperation.
8) My Time Spiral pack had two rares in it, what gives?
We do not list foil cards as "foil" when displaying the pack. But you can be assured that the reason you are seeing two rares is because there is an actual chance of this happening in a pack.
9) I want to review what the Bots drafted near me.
Just go to the main Draft Page, and click on Watch Draft #xxx or put the number of the draft you want to review in the search box. You will be taken to a table diagram of a completed draft and can watch what happened in each seat.
10) This Draft Simulator has increased my confidence, how do I play a complete draft versus other players?
It is great to hear that our simulator has helped you better understand drafting. To continue your experience and draft for real prizes versus other players we suggest you use Magic the Gathering Online, by Wizards of the Coast. You can download that application [HERE]
