Ascertaining Arena? Assimilating Arena? Attacking Arena?

Okay, my alliteration game – one of the few ways I'm creative – might need a little work here. But no worries – joining the weekly Mining Modern and semi-regular Solving Standard series will be somethingsomething Arena!

For starters, if you don't know what I'm talking about, check out this article explaining MTG Arena, the newest – and sleekest – way to battle Magic on the internet. I've been a part of the beta for a few months and have been hands-on with this product since the initial closed beta release, but here we are with the NDA lifted and us free to share the game with all you!

I won't waste any more words – enjoy.

There's so much to learn about MTG Arena, and few have tackled it better than Neale did here. Suffice to say, Wizards is aiming to make Arena a gamechanger, and early indications certainly check off a lot of the boxes. It's simple to understand, intuitive in how it works and looks pretty good as you play through. It erases a lot of the hassles of Magic Online, and while it obviously has a long way to go before it becomes a “serious” platform for competitive Magic, I'm highly encouraged by what I've seen in this beta.

We'll be returning to MTG Arena regularly here on TCGplayer, but we do need your help on that – what do you want to see us cover? Does the new “Brawl” format intrigue you? Do you want some more precon battles? Incremental upgrades? I see MTG Arena as much more than just a reskinned Duels of the Planeswalkers – this is going to be a key part of Wizards' attempts to move Magic firmly into the realm of esports, and it's going to be a fun ride.

And hey, if I get to play some Merfolk along the way – well, you can bet I'll be there.

Thanks for reading,

Corbin Hosler
