Amonkhet had a lot of things for a lot of people, and the set has a ton of different cards that have excited players, from Zombies to Gods to planeswalkers.

Vizier of Remedies was the card for me.

Hello, Devoted Druid. Hello, infinite mana.

This deck is awesome. Kevin Page took the deck to a Top 20 finish at the SCG Classic in Atlanta last week, and I worked off of his deck as a starting point. The general premise of the deck is simple. Assemble Vizier of Remedies and Devoted Druid as soon as possible. Add mana with Druid, then untap it using its ability. Because Vizier prevents the counter from going on the Druid, you can untap without penalty. Rinse and repeat for infinite green mana.

From there, Chord of Calling or Collected Company can find you Duskwatch Recruiter, which can then use the infinite mana to find Walking Ballista. Use the mana to make an arbitrarily large Ballista, and shoot them with it until they're dead. This even works if Ballista is in play already, since you can use the mana to pump the Ballista for lethal. Rhonas the Indomitable provides another win condition, since it can pump another member of the team infinitely large and grant it trample in case there's a Leyline of Sanctity or Stony Silence preventing the primary kill.

The rest of the deck exists to make that happen. Obviously Collected Company and Chord of Calling have established themselves in any combo-centric creature deck, and they are at their best here. Eldritch Evolution and Eternal Witness provide additional resiliency, giving you another way to get combo pieces out of the deck or the graveyard. Spellskite protects the combo, while Path to Exile and Scavenging Ooze mean the deck has at least some interaction when necessary.

And Simian Spirit Guide makes it all possible as early as the second turn, because why not? First-turn Devoted Druids into second-turn Vizier of Remedies sounds fun.

The sideboard is pretty generic, but the most important part is the four Leyline of Sanctity to protect against hand disruption spells. Heroic Intervention is a nice touch in case you find yourself matched up against a Supreme Verdict deck.

I'm not sure if this is the best green-white combo deck or not. Traditional Abzan Company plays a much better “fair” game than this deck, but it also suffers from having more blanks in the form of redundant mana dorks and a worse mana base. Overall, I'm not sure I see Druid-Vizier decks overtaking the traditional lists, but I do think that we'll begin to see it incorporated in some sort of super combo monster. Heck, I may even be the one to do it, though playing out that deck on Magic Online is nearly impossible due to the limitations of comboing online.

Either way, I know that this deck was a blast, and Amonkhet has delivered. Enjoy.
