Wizard World Series |
As many people have noticed, Wizard World recently removed all mention of the TCGplayer.com Wizard World Series and the TCGplayer.com Wizard World Series $75,000 Championship Tournament from their webpage and also stopped all of their own internal promotions inside their digital magazine. We are not sure why they have made these changes and all attempts at emailing, calling and sending direct mail to the heads of their company have resulted in no replies.
We have determined that due to Wizard World's actions that they are choosing to no longer be involved. As such, TCGplayer has made arrangements, completely on our own, to run a Championship Tournament as close by as possible, for the full $75,000.00 prize pool on the same weekend - as marketed all year by Wizard World and TCGplayer. While we started the TCGplayer.com Wizard World Series with a belief that Wizard World would be involved to the end, TCGplayer.com is putting up the ENTIRE prize pool ourselves and making separate event location arrangements to ensure our standing in not only the Magic community, but also the gaming community as a whole.
TCGplayer wants to assure all players that have participated in both TCQs and in events at Wizard World Conventions that all points earned are going to be fully honored by us for gaining entry into this new, separate Championship Tournament put on entirely by TCGplayer. Also, any points earned from upcoming Qualifier events from now until July 31st will also be valid and added to any existing points for the Championship Tournament.
We apologize for the confusion over the last month and believe that our stepping up to fill in the vacancy shows you our dedication to the Magic community. To that end we have brought aboard Pastimes to handle the Tournament Organization/Event Management for the Championship Tournament. Pastimes has been one of the most respected tournament organizers in the country and will help make sure this is a well-run event with a fantastic schedule of grinders for those looking to qualify the day before and/or get some very valuable byes for the main event!
